P-Group enjoyed taking part in Careers activities. As you can tell from the photos, students loved these activities which allowed them to utilise their senses and encourage exploration of their environment. Students were also able to demonstrate their learning and awareness of different cause and effect activities.
A particular favourite appeared to be our Car Wash Work experience afternoon. Students were supported to wash cars, they explored the water and sponges before using different strokes and movements as they cleaned the cars.
We also created a sensory car wash in class using our dark den and different multi-sensory activities. To support proprioceptive, vestibular and tactile sensory exploration students went into the car wash through a ribboned Mitter. They were then given an opportunity to demonstrate their anticipation of the water spray, which appeared through several of the car wash windows. Students then approached the dryer, again being given an opportunity to show anticipation and allowed time to explore the breeze and effects created. Students also explored the auditory effects of the dryer.
