This week, students from 3/4I visited Accrington library to attend the first workshop meeting for Lancashire Book of the Year. Our learners, and 6 other schools, will be student judges, short-listing books, about young people's fiction, by February 2025.
Over the next few months, they will be exploring new genres and authors, developing their critique skills, forming and sharing opinions, and broadening their reading tastes and imagination from a selection of 29 books..
In the workshop they practiced using simple marking techniques to demonstrate objectivity in their judging. They also used their skills of persuasion to convince another to read their favourite book.
