Down's Syndrome Awareness week takes place during 15th-21st March 2021 and incorporates World Down's Syndrome Day on Sunday 21st March.
Each year on the 21st of March World Down's Syndrome Day is celebrated. People who have Down's Syndrome have an extra chromosome (they have 3 copies of chromosome 21 - which is why it is celebrated on 21st March, 21/3) and to support World Down's Syndrome day, the "Lots of Socks" fundraising campaign is a worldwide campaign run by Down Syndrome International.
Running alongside this theme this year is #connect. The Down's Syndrome Association are celebrating the power of connections and highlighting how you can #CONNECT and make a difference, through 'Our Voice' project. This is an opportunity for people who have Down's Syndrome to speak up and have their voices heard.

We would like to celebrate World Down's Syndrome Day in our community by inviting pupils, parents and carers to join in with the 'Lots of Socks' campaign on Sunday 21st March.
You could choose from a range of activities including wearing different socks, making sock bunting, this could be as simple as pegging the socks out on the washing line or by completing Frank the Fundraising Monkey's colouring sheet.
Please send any photos of your socks to your class teacher!
