Earlier this week, for the first time we entered a girls’ team in the Lancashire Special Schools Football League. The girls have been extremely eager to take part in some competitive football.

The games took place at PlayFootball Preston. In the first game of the day the team started really well going 1-0 up but unfortunately ended up on the losing side. The next game was against the current champions, they put up a great fight, the goalkeeper made several fantastic saves but again we were unlucky to lose. The next game ended in controversial fashion with a 2-1 defeat. The opposition went 1-0 up through a fantastic strike.

Tor View then started to play some great football creating lots of chances but were unable to beat the keeper. Then controversially the referee awarded a penalty for the opposition when it clearly should have been a free kick to Tor View. They scored the penalty, but this made the team more motivated and they went up the other end and scored but it was too late and they lost 2-1. The team took this motivation into the final game where they were fantastic and won incredibly 5-2 with one player scoring a hattrick. This was a fantastic way to the end the day.

The team already can’t wait to play their next fixtures. Well done everyone involved!
