OPERATION ENCOMPASS

Tor View Specialist Learning Community is committed to participating in the Operation Encompass partnership scheme.  It is an initiative that has been implemented across the whole of the Lancashire police area with local schools, academies, colleges and community health agencies and is a means of providing appropriate and timely support to young people affected by domestic abuse. It was set up to provide early reporting to schools about any domestic abuse incidents that occur outside of school hours to which a young person attending our school has been exposed and which might have an impact on their schooling the following day. The nominated ‘Encompass Key Adult’ (a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)/Deputy DSL ) will be able to use the information, in confidence, to make provision for possible difficulties experienced by children and their families and to provide access to support and immediate early intervention dependent on the needs and wishes of the child.  The Key Adult will keep the information confidential and will only share it on a need to know basis, not with other school pupils.

We are keen to offer the best support possible for our pupils and a recent review of Operation Encompass showed that it is beneficial and supportive for all those involved.
